August is here, vacations are winding down and school is just around the corner. With those suitcases going from packed to empty and from being stored under a plane to inside your closet, we want to circle back to last year and remind you about bed bugs!
Bed Bug Identification:
Bed bugs are often brought home in your suitcases and on your clothes and you may not even realize it. A pesky, tiny insect, bed bugs often go unnoticed until you either get bit or have an infestation. While bed bugs do not transmit diseases; they are a huge nuisance!
Signs you may have bed bugs:
In the U.S., the Huffington Post recently found the following ten cities as being the worst for bed bugs: Chicago, Detroit, Columbus, Los Angeles, Cleveland—Akron—Canton, Dallas—Ft. Worth, Cincinnati, Denver, Richmond—Petersburg, and Dayton.
Only a professional can fully remove bed bugs, so it’s best to call Mick’s the minute you think you have an infestation. But, temporary and preventative measures (especially after a vacation) include: washing clothes and bedding in cold water and then drying on HOT for 30 minutes, inspecting seams and crevices of furniture and carpet and vacuum thoroughly, and be diligent about spraying insecticide in your home.
